He will turn 39 later this month and left Europe for a season in California before opting to return to his homeland. Giroud is France's all-time leading goalscorer, led the line in the 2018 World Cup victory and has won trophies in five countries. He enjoyed spells at Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan, scored two goals in his first two games for Lille, and chose Lille's European project over a reunion with Laurent Koscielny at FC Lorient.
