Oakland's Bishop O'Dowd HS women's soccer team heads into playoffs with historic season
"Having a large portion of these players that have witnessed that three year process has led us to have tremendous success this year,"
"We said that we want to go undefeated, we want to go all the way, we want to win everything."
"Well my reaction to that i was so ready to go, after losing in the semi's of NCS and state last year I was just so excited I was so pumped, just like yeah, let's go get it this year, let's go win!"
"Even though we play for different clubs we all came together and created this like kind of super team of girls who were ready to compete and everyone wants to win so I just think that's a great combination,"
Bishop O'Dowd High School girls soccer finished a perfect 14-0 regular season. The Dragons are unbeaten in their last 32 regular-season games. The program rose to the top of the North Coast Section. Head coach Mark Savvides arrived three years ago and two consecutive talented freshman classes rebuilt the roster. Seniors Abby Forsgren and Chloe Keating are the only four-year starters; Keating was the conference player of the year last year. Forsgren ranks among the state's top scorers and will receive multiple awards. Freshman Sadie Siedel is Northern California player of the year for her age group and plays for the U16 U.S. Women's National Team and Oakland Soul. Teammates call the roster a "super team" formed from club players united by a desire to win.
