Oakland's soccer teams, the Roots and Soul Sports Club, will have a dedicated training facility following a deal with Redco Development. The former Raiders training complex in Alameda will be leased for 15 years, ensuring stability for both teams. After an earlier failed purchase, city officials successfully negotiated this agreement, which was praised by club President Lindsay Barenz as a crucial step for future growth. The facility features state-of-the-art training amenities, although the city will only net approximately $11.7 million from the $24 million sale, with the remainder benefiting Alameda County.
This is the foundation we'll build the future of this organization from.
Roots and Soul are building something really special here in the East Bay, and we're honored to help anchor that vision with a permanent home.
