New York City FC (NYCFC) broke ground on the Willets Point stadium last December and remains on course to open the 25,000-seater venue before the start of the 2027 MLS season. The stadium, located across the street from the Citi Field bullpen along Seaver Way in Willets Point, will be dubbed "Etihad Park" and will become the first fully electric stadium in the United States."
"NYCFC is financing the entire $800 million project, which includes a 2,500-unit affordable housing complex, a 650-seat elementary school, a 250-room hotel, retail space and 40,000 square feet of public open space. The club has made significant progress on the stadium's west stand, which will be entirely made up of lounges, clubs and suites. The Tunnel Club, an exclusive lounge offering ticketholders access to pitch-side seating and 285 square-foot pitch-side suites,"
NYCFC is constructing a 25,000-seat soccer-specific stadium at Willets Point, scheduled to open before the 2027 MLS season. The venue will be named Etihad Park and will be the first fully electric stadium in the United States. The $800 million project is privately financed and includes 2,500 affordable housing units, a school, a hotel, retail space and 40,000 square feet of public open space. The west stand will be made up largely of lounges, clubs and suites, including the sold-out Tunnel Club with pitch-side suites. The north stand will hold a 3,400-seat supporters' section built at the steepest MLS-allowed gradient to create an intimidating "wall of people". The club intends to balance atmosphere with the economic realities of financing.
