No need to extend VAR powers, says FA chief
Briefly

Mark Bullingham, CEO of the Football Association, expresses no need to extend the video assistant referee (VAR) system, highlighting sufficient interruptions already present. There have been discussions about potentially expanding VAR to cover corner kicks and second yellow cards, but the FA remains opposed. Bullingham emphasized their belief that the current VAR implementation is satisfactory, stating, "We think there's enough interruptions to the game in the current model." FIFA's referees chief, Pierluigi Collina, indicated that any changes must not lead to increased delays, and currently, there are no formal proposals to expand VAR's scope.
Mark Bullingham stated, "We don't think there's any need to extend the use of VAR. There are regular discussions in Ifab about what VAR should be and how it should move forward."
Currently, VAR technology can only be used to rule in selected situations, including goals, penalty decisions, direct red cards, and mistaken identity, but some believe it should be expanded for accuracy.
