Newcastle star makes decision on which country to represent at 2026 World Cup
"It's the perennial question, everybody keeps asking me about it. This time I can say for sure, Harvey's going to concentrate on trying to play for England, he's not going to come to Scotland."
"You can put that one out there. Nobody needs to ask me or Harvey about it any more. Am I disappointed? No, listen, Harvey can make up his own mind. We move on."
Steve Clarke confirmed that Newcastle United winger Harvey Barnes will not switch his international allegiance to Scotland and will instead focus on trying to play for England. Barnes is 28 years old and currently has one England cap. Clarke has ruled out Barnes as part of Scotland's plans for their first World Cup in 28 years and indicated a desire to move on from the matter. Barnes has recorded 12 goals and two assists in all competitions for Newcastle this season. England selection remains highly competitive in attacking midfield positions.
