Martin Odegaard downplays claim Norway could WIN the World Cup after Erling Haaland nets five in 11-1 rout of Moldova
""It's about the players we have. It's about how they work together, they play their best football on the national team, they are hungry and we can take aim as underdogs. It's an incredibly cool position to have in a tournament.""
""I think it's our job to keep our feet on the ground. We know how it is with you in the media and with people in general - there is hype and a lot of optimism when things are going well.""
""It's pretty sick, I have to say. It speaks for itself. "It's good that I got some good assists, and not just goals. There's a lot of pressure on our shoulders, so we just have to deliver.""
Norway beat Moldova 11-1 in Oslo, with Erling Haaland scoring five and substitute Thelo Aasgaard netting four. Martin Odegaard also scored, and Stale Solbakken's side lead qualifying Group I by six points over Italy after playing one more game. The result strengthens Norway's bid to qualify for next summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Norwegian TV pundit Carl-Erik Torp suggested Norway could aim high as underdogs, but Odegaard and Solbakken downplayed lofty expectations. Haaland said the five-goal haul was "pretty sick" and insisted the team must handle pressure and deliver.
