Enzo Maresca left Chelsea on New Year's Day after an apparent breakdown with the club hierarchy following a run of poor results. Chelsea sit fifth in the Premier League, three points outside the top four, having won only one of their last eight league matches. Liam Rosenior has been appointed as the new head coach on a contract through 2031-32. Maresca thanked fans and players on Instagram, citing inner peace and praising achievements including Champions League qualification, the Conference League title and the Club World Cup. Calum McFarlane served as interim coach and oversaw a 1-1 draw at Manchester City.
