Manchester United transfer boost as Napoli confirm 43m Rasmus Hojlund transfer plan
"Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Manna revealed the club faced stiff competition to secure his signature. We did everything we could to sign him. There were more storied clubs interested, but his will was crucial, and we are proud of it, he said. We had no doubts. Rasmus is decisive in terms of numbers, but also in how he understands the coach's input. This makes a difference."
"Napoli's deal includes an option to buy that becomes an obligation if they qualify for the Champions League. There's an option to buy and an obligation to buy if we qualify for the Champions League. The player considers himself a Napoli player, and the same goes for us, Manna said. Asked if the transfer was a formality, he added: As of today, I think so."
Rasmus Hojlund arrived in Naples last summer on loan from Manchester United with an option to buy for 50million (43m). He has scored six league goals so far this season, two more than he managed during the 202425 Premier League campaign at Old Trafford. Napoli faced competition from other clubs but secured his signature largely because of the player's strong desire to join. Sporting director Giovanni Manna described Hojlund as decisive in statistical output and in how he interprets the coach's instructions. The loan deal contains an option to buy that becomes an obligation if Napoli qualify for the Champions League. Hojlund and the club both regard him as a Napoli player, and the permanent transfer appears almost certain.
