Manchester City internally discuss Marc Guehi - Soccer News
"Manchester City were already said to be involved in the race for the signature of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, but their interest was tied to the summer of 2026 when his contract expires, rather than the January transfer window. Now, however, according to multiple sources, injuries to their defensive department have prompted internal discussions at the Etihad, with the possibility of sending a concrete offer to tempt Palace into selling mid-season."
"If they do, it remains to be seen if their offer meets Palace's demand, and at this point, that doesn't seem likely. Interestingly enough, Palace now want more than the £35million for which they had agreed to sell Guehi to Liverpool on Deadline Day last summer, before pulling out of the deal at the eleventh hour. And City apparently aren't prepared to pay even that much."
Manchester City initially planned to pursue Marc Guehi in summer 2026 when his contract expires rather than in January. Injuries in City's defensive department have prompted internal discussions about a potential mid-season offer to Crystal Palace. Palace now demand more than the previously agreed £35million Liverpool fee that collapsed on Deadline Day last summer. Manchester City are reportedly unwilling to pay even that amount. Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich remain interested in the 25-year-old centre-back. Barcelona made contact with Guehi's representatives before deciding not to proceed with talks.
