"Today, as every day, we remember Diogo Jota on what would have been his 29th birthday,"
"All of our love, thoughts and prayers continue to be with his wife Rute, his children, parents and all of his family and friends, as well as those of his brother, André."
"Forever in our hearts, forever our number 20."
Liverpool paid tribute to Diogo Jota on what would have been his 29th birthday following his death in a car crash in Spain on July 3 alongside his brother André Silva. The club posted a photograph of Jota wearing the Portugal flag around his waist while holding up the Premier League trophy. Liverpool sent love, thoughts and prayers to his wife Rute, his children, parents and wider family, and to the family of his brother. Jota wore No. 20 after signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020, played five seasons, won major trophies, and had his No. 20 retired; a permanent memorial sculpture at Anfield has been announced.
