"Regarding speculation surrounding Wirtz's future, Liverpool are totally dismissive of anything around him. Social media can be quite vociferous with things, but Liverpool know they've got a world class player. Talk of them thinking about cashing in or anything like that is absolute nonsense. "They're committed to Wirtz, there's no ifs or buts, they love him as a person and a player and know he'll come good."
"Top players didn't get loaned in the past. "A loan was for players who didn't get a game, but the top players didn't get loaned. "It probably started with Philippe Coutinho a few years ago, when he went for 140 million or something to Barcelona. And a year later he was loaned out to Bayern Munich. "I wouldn't rule anything out in today's world, especially in football."
Liverpool signed Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in summer 2025. Wirtz has struggled to make an impact at Anfield in his first months. Liverpool sources are dismissive of suggestions they would sell or cash in on Wirtz, and view him as a world-class player who they are committed to and who will improve. Former midfielder Dietmar Hamann suggested a different possibility, saying loan moves for top players have occurred recently and citing Philippe Coutinho's example. Hamann said Real Madrid, encouraged by Xabi Alonso's reported interest, could monitor Wirtz and potentially pursue a loan in January if circumstances change.
