Lando Norris secured pole position for McLaren in treacherous wet qualifying at the Las Vegas street circuit, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and with teammate Oscar Piastri only fifth. Carlos Sainz qualified third for Williams and George Russell fourth for Mercedes. Norris leads Piastri by 24 points and Verstappen by 49, giving Norris the chance to extend his championship advantage in the remaining events. Lewis Hamilton struggled with Ferrari in the wet, finishing 20th after tyre warm-up problems and a late yellow flag, while Charles Leclerc qualified ninth and outperformed his teammate by a significant margin.
