Briefly

Major League Soccer team LAFC and Mexican club Club America may compete in a decisive play-off to claim the final spot in the 2025 Club World Cup. Club Leon was disqualified due to violations of FIFA's multi-club ownership rules, creating this opportunity for LAFC and Club America, who are the highest-ranked team not qualified. The tournament is set for June 15 to July 13, with Club Leon appealing their disqualification in court, further complicating the situation.
Fifa can confirm it is considering one play-off match between LAFC and Club America for the right to participate in the Fifa Club World Cup 2025.
LAFC were beaten by Club Leon in the 2023 Concacaf Champions League final, while Club America are the highest-ranked team behind Club Leon who did not qualify.
Club Leon have taken their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) regarding their disqualification from the Club World Cup.
The 32-team tournament starts on 15 June and runs until the final on 13 July, held across the United States.
