Kane: England prepared for possible racist abuse
"We are still under special monitoring of UEFA. Every inappropriate reaction, insult or incident could cost us dearly on our path to the [World Cup finals in] United States, Mexico and Canada, including the possibility of having to play a decisive match with Albania behind closed doors. "We had a meeting and we discussed the protocols from UEFA's point of view. I don't think we like to discuss it too much. Our focus is on the game. Our focus is on trying to beat Serbia on the pitch. England players held a meeting to review UEFA protocols and agreed they will follow those procedures if racist abuse occurs during the World Cup qualifier in Belgrade. The Serbian FA urged supporters for good behaviour, noting fines totalling more than €700,000 over the past five years for prohibited behaviours, insults and discrimination from the stands. UEFA investigated alleged discriminatory chanting at Euro 2024, and sources said no complaints came from the England camp then. Fifteen percent of Stadion Rajko Mitic will be closed for the match. Serbian FA general secretary Branko Radujko warned of special UEFA monitoring and possible sanctions, and England captain Harry Kane said the squad remains focused on the game while prepared for any incident.
