Julian Nagelsmann welcomes three Germany MNT debutants

Germany added three newcomers for September World Cup qualifying: goalkeeper Finn Dahmen (27), defender Nnamdi Collins (21), and winger Paul Nebel (22). All three have recent strong club or U21 EUROs performances that earned selection. Dahmen is in his third season as Augsburg starter and is likely third-choice behind Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel. Collins has accumulated playing time at Eintracht Frankfurt and can operate at full-back and center-back, offering defensive versatility. Nebel stood out at the U21 EUROs and at Mainz but faces stiff competition among German attackers. Germany faces Slovakia on September 4 and Northern Ireland on September 7.
"Finn has been a consistent Bundesliga goalkeeper for years and has had a very interesting career path; he's already had to overcome some hurdles. Nnamdi played a great U21 EUROs and racked up plenty of playing time in Frankfurt. He has good qualities and a good body, and has played full-back and center-back. And Paul was one of the most noticeable players at the U21 EUROs and also last season at Mainz."
For Dahmen, it is his third season starting at Augsburg, but he figures to be the third keeper in the current pecking order behind Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel. Collins and Nebel are the latest crop of youngsters to break into the team and will be hoping to make their mark fast to stick around.
