Josip Stanisic talks growing up near Sabener Strae while maintaing Croatian identity
"I felt very happy [in Perlach] and had a wonderful childhood. Football played a major role from an early age. I played for FC Perlach and spent every spare minute I had out on the football pitch."
"I'd say I'm a good mix. I feel very connected to Croatia through my family. I always spent my holidays there with my family. That's still the case today. Whenever I have the opportunity, I go there. Croatia is home to me, just like Munich. I was born and raised here, have many friends here and now also my own little family."
Bayern Munich prioritizes promoting young talent and preserving Bavarian identity by developing local players through its youth academy. Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl both joined the academy in their mid-teens and advanced quickly, spending one and two years respectively before senior promotion. Aleksandar Pavlović joined at age nine and progressed wholly through the academy without loans, representing an ideal academy product. Josip Stanišic grew up in Munich's Perlach near the Säbenerstraße, played for FC Perlach, and joined Bayern's youth ranks at 16. He identifies strongly with both Croatia and Munich, maintaining family ties and holiday visits to Croatia.
