"This will be Urbig's fourth match of the season for Bayern and only his second start in the Bundesliga, as his first came in the win over Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end of October and his other two matches came in the DFB-Pokal first and second rounds against Wehen Wiesbaden and then his former club, FC Köln."
"Had it not been for a red card suspension from last season's straight red against Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal round of 16, Urbig might not have even started the two matches in the competition thus far, but he was needed for the Wiesbaden and Köln wins. Ironically enough, Kompany made the decision to stick with Neuer for the 3-2 win at Union Berlin this week after Neuer had come under some criticism for some of the goals he's conceded as of late."
Vincent Kompany has chosen Jonas Urbig to start Bayern Munich's Bundesliga match at VfB Stuttgart and has made several changes following the 3-2 DFB-Pokal win at Union Berlin. Urbig will make his fourth appearance of the season and only his second Bundesliga start, having previously featured in the win over Borussia Mönchengladbach and in DFB-Pokal matches against Wehen Wiesbaden and FC Köln. A red card suspension from last season influenced his earlier availability, which led to his cup appearances. Bayern supporters are urging more playing time for Urbig as a potential long-term successor to Manuel Neuer. Daniel Peretz has struggled since joining and Sven Ulreich missed much of last season for personal reasons.
