Barton is on trial at Liverpool Crown Court, accused of 12 counts of sending grossly offensive electronic communications with intent to cause distress or anxiety; he denies the charges. Ward described herself as one of few female football commentators, said the abuse felt like continuous bullying, and that she felt vulnerable attending games.
