Joey Barton, 43, was tried at Liverpool Crown Court and found guilty of six counts of sending grossly offensive electronic communications with intent to cause distress or anxiety. The convictions relate to posts on X targeting broadcaster Jeremy Vine and pundits Lucy Ward and Eni Aluko, including a superimposed image likening the women to serial killers and derogatory comparisons. Jurors acquitted him of some comparisons but ruled the image and other posts grossly offensive. Barton was also convicted for posts attacking Eni Aluko's advocacy and for posts suggesting sexual misconduct about Jeremy Vine. Sentencing details were not provided.
