Jesse Lingard signs for Brazilian side Corinthians until the end of the year
"There's a lot of passion from the fans, which is wonderful to see. The training centre here is incredible. And the players welcomed me with open arms, the coach, the director, it was great to meet them. My first impressions: very happy, I can't wait to play."
"Lingard's deal will run until the end of 2026, with the option of an additional 12 months 'if certain goals established in the document are met'. The 33-year-old becomes only the second player born in England to play for the Serie A team, according to the club, after Colin Kazim-Richards."
Jesse Lingard, 33, has joined Brazilian Serie A club Corinthians after being without a club since December following his departure from FC Seoul. The contract runs through the end of 2026 with an optional additional 12 months contingent on meeting specified performance targets. Lingard becomes only the second English-born player to play for Corinthians, following Colin Kazim-Richards. The midfielder expressed enthusiasm about the club's passionate fanbase, training facilities, and welcoming team environment. At Corinthians, Lingard will reunite with former Manchester United teammate Memphis Depay. Lingard's career includes over 200 appearances for Manchester United, where he won the FA Cup and EFL Cup before departing in 2022.
