The move is the sixth in the women's game to surpass $1m US so far this year, with Naomi Girma's move to Chelsea in January being the first to do so."

Gotham FC paid $1.25m to acquire United States midfielder Jaedyn Shaw from North Carolina Courage. The transfer is the sixth in the women's game this year to exceed $1m, following Naomi Girma's move to Chelsea in January. The fee is the highest for a transfer between two NWSL clubs, though Orlando Pride's $1.5m signing of Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle from Tigres remains the overall NWSL transfer high. Shaw expressed excitement about joining Gotham and aims to help win another championship. She won Olympic gold in 2024, has 26 senior caps with eight goals and two assists, and has scored 16 times in 68 NWSL appearances.
