Julie-Ann Russell has switched focus to other sports since retiring from international football. She is 'forever grateful' for a second chance after leaving the international game. Her departure from football led her to acquire penalty-taking skills in another sport. Last year Russell was a key player in Ireland's effort to qualify for the Uefa European Women's Championship held in Switzerland. She will line out at centre-forward for her home club Moycullen in the Galway senior B county final. The county final will take place in Claregalway and features Russell playing Gaelic football for Moycullen.
