Liverpool were unable to complete a reported £35m signing of Marc Guehi after Crystal Palace failed to secure a replacement before the transfer window closed. Guehi reportedly completed a medical but stayed at Palace, where he leads the club in successful passes, clearances, aerial duels won and interceptions since July 2021. His Premier League pass accuracy (86%) ranks behind only a few top defenders among those attempting over 7,500 passes since his Palace debut. Arne Slot described the situation as a pity, noted squad depth including Giovanni Leoni, and suggested a future move for Guehi remains possible.
