Ben Chilwell relaunched his career at French club Strasbourg after a difficult end to his Chelsea spell. He tore his cruciate ligament at the end of 2021 and then suffered a hamstring tear that caused him to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Chilwell fell out of favour at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca in 2024 and was placed in the club's 'bomb squad'. England manager Thomas Tuchel indicated Chilwell's international hopes are not necessarily over, and Chilwell aims for the 2026 World Cup.
