"He strikes with his left, with the right, he scores goals, and he speaks to you in English."
Gilberto Mora is a 16-year-old forward from Chiapas who plays for Club Tijuana and the Mexico national team. He became the youngest scorer in Liga MX and the youngest player to debut in a competitive match for Mexico. He recently became the youngest player to win an international trophy at the Concacaf Gold Cup, surpassing Pelé and Lamine Yamal. A pre-interview communications request prompted Mora to answer in English during a Zoom news conference, producing a viral moment. Tijuana manager Sebastián Abreu praised Mora’s ability to score with both feet and noted he also reportedly speaks German. Mora rose from a 15-year-old academy prospect to rapid professional prominence within 11 months.
