"When you look up and down the list of England's one-cap wonders, a fair few names stand out for various reasons. Ahead of the March international break, a total of 360 players have won just a solitary England cap, a list which includes the likes of future Tottenham manager Bill Nicholson, ex-Manchester United stopper Alex Stepney, title-winning striker Chris Sutton and Three Lions one-time goalscorer David Nugent."

The best features, fun and footballing quizzes, straight to your inbox every week. I was actually the next one on the plane, but unfortunately it never happened, which was a real shame as it would have been an unbelievable experience for me to play at a World Cup."
A total of 360 players have won just one England cap, including notable names such as Bill Nicholson, Alex Stepney, Chris Sutton and David Nugent. The early 2000s England side under Sven-Goran Eriksson contained a wealth of top club talent, making national team selection highly competitive. David Dunn produced a strong campaign for Blackburn in 2001/02 and featured at the European Under-21 Championship. Dunn was placed on standby because of David Beckham's metatarsal problems and Trevor Sinclair's injury uncertainty, narrowly missing a World Cup place. He later received a September 2002 call-up and made a brief substitute appearance.
