Aaron Ramsey, a former midfielder for Arsenal now at Pumas UNAM, had to choose between football and rugby as a teenager. He excelled in rugby, considering it as a viable career option. Ultimately, he chose football and became a successful player with 64 goals and five trophies in 369 appearances for Arsenal. Ramsey won Serie A with Juventus and earned 86 caps for the Welsh national team, participating in two European championships. His rugby background influenced his football style, aiding in his development and resilience against injuries.
I like to think I would have made it if I'd chosen rugby. I started off playing rugby league as well as union. I switched between fly-half and wing but I preferred to play fly-half.
Playing football obviously helped me with striking a ball, and I enjoyed the physical side of it. I think that has helped me overcome my injury problems.
