"I have to honestly say, I still feel sorry for Florian Wirtz because I think the player would be better off at Bayern Munich than at Liverpool,"
"We could have signed Woltemade,"
"But I also have to say: FC Bayern would be well advised not to go along with every financial madness."
"I've always said: We want sporting success, but please with serious and solid financing. We have a top team. We'll be back this year as well. And if the three currently injured players (Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Ito) come back soon, then we'll have a superb team."
Karl‑Heinz Rummenigge criticised Liverpool and Newcastle for paying large fees to sign Bundesliga players, saying Florian Wirtz would be better off at Bayern Munich and that Bayern could have signed Nick Woltemade. He warned Bayern against participating in "financial madness" while affirming a preference for sporting success with serious, solid financing. Bayern signed Luis Diaz for a similar fee. Rummenigge stated Bayern have a top team and predicted a strong season if injured players Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito return. He did not expand on why Bayern would be a more suitable destination for Wirtz. Wirtz has yet to record a Premier League or Champions League goal or assist.
