Alexander Isak scored his first goal for Liverpool as the Reds beat Southampton 2-1 to reach the fourth round of the EFL Cup. Federico Chiesa pounced on a loose pass before squaring for Isak to finish. Liverpool extended a run of nine consecutive home wins over Southampton and have eliminated them in successive cup editions. Hugo Ekitike received a second yellow for removing his shirt after a late winner and will be suspended for the upcoming league trip to Crystal Palace. Arne Slot has managed Isak's minutes since his move from Newcastle, and Isak says he feels fit and capable of making a difference.
