Hull confirm arrests for discriminatory chanting vs. Chelsea
""discriminatory chanting inside the stadium,""
""we are using CCTV to gather evidence. We will eject and report to the police anyone we identify as being involved in criminal activity.""
""action has been taken this evening, including arrests.""
""Any discriminatory language in any form about anything is unacceptable, so I hope it gets dealt with. The fourth official mentioned something to me, but I was so focused on the game. I honestly don't know what's happening.""
Multiple arrests were made for discriminatory chanting during Hull City's 4-0 FA Cup fourth-round match against Chelsea at MKM Stadium. Announcements over the public address system stated there had been "discriminatory chanting inside the stadium" and that CCTV was being used to gather evidence, with ejections and police reports possible. A later announcement confirmed that "action has been taken this evening, including arrests." Some home supporters chanted "Chelsea rent boy." The Crown Prosecution Service classified "rent boy" as an anti-gay slur and a hate crime in January 2022. Chelsea won 4-0 courtesy of a Pedro Neto hat trick and a goal from Estêvão.
