Dean Huijsen was shown a straight red card for a foul on Mikel Oyarzabal and received a one-game suspension. The refereeing committee's video analysis stated the most appropriate punishment would have been a yellow card because a second Real Madrid defender, Éder Militão, might have been able to challenge. Huijsen publicly criticised the outcome on Instagram.
