How unlikely hero Chermiti ignited Rangers title charge
""You have two stories today," Rangers boss Danny Rohl told BBC Scotland following the statement win. "One, we can turn things in one half to come back 3-1 and win this game. The second story, we have a centre-forward in Youssef who scores fantastic goals.""
""This is what I work for, this is what everyone works for," were the words of Chermiti. "If you want to be a big player, you have to play for the big clubs and [deal with] big pressure," he added on Sky Sports."
Youssef Chermiti, signed from Everton for a reported £10m four months earlier, scored twice to spark Rangers' 3-1 comeback victory at Celtic Park. The 21-year-old had been without a goal for more than two years before joining Rangers and faced heavy criticism during a difficult start under Russell Martin. He scored his first Rangers goal in October under Danny Rohl against Kilmarnock and added a consolation at Hearts two weeks ago. He produced improved performances in starts against Motherwell and St Mirren and kept his place at Celtic Park despite Bojan Miovski's return. Chermiti was largely peripheral in a ragged first half.
