The 2026 World Cup draw divides 48 teams into 12 groups of four, with 32 advancing to single-elimination knockout rounds. Each group will include one team drawn from each of four pots of 12, organized largely by current FIFA rankings. Pot 1 contains the highest-ranked teams and the three hosts; Mexico is assigned to Group A, Canada to Group B and the United States to Group D. The top four ranked teams are arranged so they would not meet before the semifinals if they win their groups. Pot 4 contains multiple placeholders for playoff winners and unspecified slots.
