Hoffenheim's Geiger eyes 'new beginning' with Aberdeen
"I know Lutz well from our time at Hoffenheim. He made it clear how much Aberdeen wanted to have me here, so the decision was easy for me."
"It's the chance for a restart, a new beginning, I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and take on this new challenge."
"Dennis will bring real energy and tenacity to the squad. I've known him since his early years at Hoffenheim, so I know what type of character he is. He has played at the highest level so brings a real pedigree and attributes, which I believe can help improve us."
Dennis Geiger has joined Aberdeen on loan with an option for a permanent transfer in the summer. The 27-year-old midfielder has not played this season after publicly criticizing Hoffenheim's recruitment and being sidelined by the club. Geiger made nearly 150 first-team appearances for Hoffenheim, is a former Germany Under-21 international, and was once considered a future German international. Geiger frames the move as a restart and a new challenge and intends to push himself out of his comfort zone. Geiger describes himself as aggressive, technically able, mentally strong and determined to win. Aberdeen's sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel expects Geiger to bring energy, tenacity and pedigree to improve the squad.
