Lawrence Shankland made it 2-0 four minutes later by drilling past Jack Butland from a tight angle. Youssef Chermiti reduced the deficit in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but Hearts held on. Hearts have now claimed back-to-back league wins over Rangers for the first time since April 1996 and remain unbeaten in 12 league games at Tynecastle.
