""Amazing result, top performance against a really good side," Kane said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). "We went 2-0 up and it was disappointing to concede straight after the second goal. We stayed calm and did very well in the second half. We made it difficult for them to press. Then they got tired and the spaces started opening up. It was a tough, physical game. We're delighted with the result.""
"The Bavarians were able to tough out a rugged 3-1 victory in a match that was not all that pleasing to the eye. Harry Kane's brace and an own goal from Chelsea paced Bayern Munich. While Chelsea did some good things (including a terrific first half counterattack for a goal), the Londoners did not have enough gas in the tank to keep up with the German powerhouse."
Bayern Munich won 3-1 against Chelsea at the Allianz Arena in the opening Champions League match. Harry Kane scored two goals and a Trevoh Chalobah own goal added to Bayern's tally. Cole Palmer scored for Chelsea, with one of his goals identified as offside. Chelsea applied pressure at different periods and produced a strong first-half counterattack, but lacked the stamina to sustain intensity. Bayern controlled the second half, disrupted Chelsea's press, and exploited spaces as the game became more physical. Bayern will travel to Hoffenheim next for Bundesliga action.
