Gotham calls record deal for Shaw a 'no-brainer'
"She's an extremely talented player that can do things that probably no other can,"
"It was a possibility that came up and for us it was a no-brainer to make sure that she can join the fantastic group of players that we have."
"I'm so incredibly blessed to have a club that's investing in me and seeing my potential and my value,"
"That's a place that I want to be a part of."
NJ/NY Gotham FC acquired U.S. international Jaedyn Shaw from the North Carolina Courage for $1.25 million, establishing a new NWSL intra-league transfer record. The payment more than doubled the previous league record of $600,000. Head coach Juan Carlos Amoros described Shaw as an extremely talented player capable of things few others can and called the acquisition a no-brainer. Shaw said she feels blessed that the club is investing in her and recognizing her potential and value. Shaw joined North Carolina in January from San Diego Wave and struggled to find a specific role there.
