Richard Kone overcame homelessness at 16 in Abidjan to build a professional football career that has reached the international level. A friend introduced him to the Don't Forget Them Association and he trained to earn selection for the 2019 Homeless World Cup in Cardiff, his first trip abroad. He moved to Hackney and, after a chance encounter at Hackney Marshes, signed for Athletic Newham in the tenth tier of English football.
