Mbappé responded on social media, challenging Orelsan to come save Caen and accusing him of trying to join with 1% without paying. Orelsan later called the exchange a misunderstanding, saying he did not want to respond and that the song uses an "inner voice" to voice negative self-criticism. The lyric related to Caen's recent relegation and Mbappé's company, Interconnected Ventures, taking over the club. Mbappé declined further comment at France's training camp.
