Under the new ownership the club achieved an unprecedented run of three successive promotions, reaching the Championship. The owners contributed investment, increased global media exposure including a fly-on-the-wall documentary series, and drew celebrity attendance to matches. Initial contact and confidentiality agreements occurred in early 2020.
