Foxborough estimates nearly $8 million will be needed for public safety for seven World Cup games at the home of the New England Patriots. FIFA representatives at a tense town meeting did not clarify who will provide the funding. Mike Loynd, president of the Boston 2026 host committee, said the host committee is responsible for public safety under the hosting agreement but did not explain funding sources. Select board members pressed whether FIFA, as licensee, would ultimately be responsible. Kevin Clark, director of venue operations for FIFA 26, said FIFA could only discuss operational questions and deferred financial matters to the stadium and host city. The federal government has earmarked $625 million for the U.S.'s 11 host cities.
