Fifa Best 2025: Hannah Hampton and Gianluigi Donnarumma win goalkeeper awards
"Hannah Hampton has won the Fifa Best women's goalkeeper 2025 award, completing a global goalkeeper award double after she received the Ballon d'Or ceremony's equivalent prize for keepers in September. Hampton, 25, saved two penalties in the European Championship final as England beat Spain in July. The Fifa Best award for this year takes performances between 11 August 2024 to 2 August 2025 into account, and therefore acknowledges not only Hampton's shootout heroics but also her helping Chelsea win a domestic treble of major trophies."
"It comes in a week where Hampton is also on the shortlist for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, which will be announced on Thursday. Hampton is the sixth different winner of Fifa's Best women's goalkeeper award since its inception in 2019, after Sari van Veenendaal, Sarah Bouhaddi in 2020, Christiane Endler in 2021, two-time winner Mary Earps and last year's winner, Alyssa Naeher of the US."
"This year, the Germany goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, Spain's Cata Coll and Chile's Endler had also been nominated for the prize, together with Hampton's England teammate Anna Moorhouse, who won the NWSL title with Orlando Pride in 2024, plus Brighton and Nigeria's Chiamaka Nnadozie and Manchester United's Phallon Tullis-Joyce. The shortlist was selected by a panel of experts, before women's national team captains and coaches, football journalists and fans voted on the final winner, with each of those four categories of voter contributing 25%."
