"creating Fifa-friendly organisations for consultation processes rather than engaging with the recognised football representative bodies"
""similar strategies with agents and fans", which it said is a "concerning pattern""
"We remain committed to further enhancing player welfare and working conditions across the world by implementing concrete and meaningful measures with a view to improving football for the future,"
Fifpro alleges that FIFA is creating Fifa-friendly organisations for consultation instead of engaging recognised football representative bodies. Fifpro represents 66,000 players globally and said it was not invited to the Rabat meeting. FIFA said the meeting included representatives from 30 national player unions and its Players' Voice Panel of ex-players. FIFA announced a Professional Players Consultation Forum, support for at least 72 hours rest between matches and 21 days between seasons, and a player welfare fund. Fifpro states a player welfare fund had existed with FIFA before being scrapped in 2022. Fifpro has legal action underway over congested fixtures and player health.
