A late goal on a wet, sodden evening gave Heart of Midlothian three points and extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership. Derek McInnes, 54, experienced adrenaline and did not sleep until 2am but showed no outward fatigue. Hearts have led the league since October and the prospect of a title challenge has grown markedly. A non-Old Firm club topping the table in February is rare, with the last comparable era in the 1980s under Sir Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen. McInnes receives regular advice from Ferguson, including pointers on media management and match-day preparation.
