FAI say 'right people in place' as John Martin replaces Marc Canham with Shane Robinson confirmed as Technical Officer
"The FAI have tasked ex-League of Ireland player John Martin with the job of driving the direction of the game here after the former Shamrock Rovers CEO was confirmed as their new Director of Football."
"As revealed in the Irish Independent last month, his appointment sees Martin take on the post left vacant by Marc Canham but with a decision to revert to the title of Director of Football and not Chief Football Officer, as Canham's role was renamed. Another former Rovers employee, Shane Robinson, will work permanently as Technical Officer, having served as interim replacement for Canham since his exit earlier this year."
John Martin, an ex-League of Ireland player and former Shamrock Rovers CEO, has been appointed Director of Football at the FAI to drive the direction of the game domestically. The role fills the vacancy left by Marc Canham and reverts to the title Director of Football rather than the Chief Football Officer name used under Canham. Shane Robinson, another former Shamrock Rovers employee, will serve permanently as Technical Officer after acting as interim replacement for Canham earlier this year. The appointments create continuity from the interim structure and place experienced domestic figures in strategic technical roles.
