Aaron Ramsey has signed with Pumas in Liga MX, marking the continuation of his career in Mexico after previously playing for clubs like Arsenal and Juventus. At 34 years old, he expressed excitement about joining such a historic club and competing in Liga MX. Despite Pumas’ lack of titles since 2011, Ramsey remains optimistic about the quality of the league. His past experience includes serving as an interim manager at Cardiff City where they faced relegation. He aims to maintain form ahead of the upcoming 2026 World Cup co-hosted by North America.
"I'm excited to play and to be a part of this historic club, I can't wait to be on the pitch," Ramsey said at Mexico City's airport.
"I've seen some matches [from Liga MX] and I am very impressed, there are some really good squads here and I'm excited to be in this competition now," Ramsey said.
Pumas has struggled, finishing 10th in the latest 2025 Clausura season and getting knocked out in the play-in round of the playoffs.
Since 1996, Liga MX plays two tournaments each year. The first one, called Clausura, begins in January and ends in May.
