Lorena Wiebes secured second place on stage 2 of the Tour de France Femmes, finishing three seconds behind Mavi García. Wiebes felt uncertain about her sprinting confidence but managed to perform well on the challenging uphill finish. She was given the freedom to test her abilities as her teammate was not at her best. Despite being a seasoned winner, Wiebes expressed happiness with her performance, emphasizing that she views any victories in this race as a bonus. She noted that the peloton could have imposed more effort to close the gap to García.
"I wasn't 100% confident to sprint for the win today because it was almost a tougher final than yesterday. But I also knew the beginning of the climb was really steep."
"Everything I win here is extra, and that's also how it felt today. I am really happy to improve on these punchy stages, and I can be really happy with this result, beating the best of the world on this uphill finish."
