Everton kicked off and built early intensity, with Grealish battling Mats Wieffer and energising the crowd. Brighton registered the first shot through Yasin Ayari after good build-up, and enjoyed spells of possession without creating many clear chances. Jordan Pickford sprinted out to intercept an over-the-top ball to Yankuba Minteh, while Iliman Ndiaye’s long-range effort was comfortably held by Bart Verbruggen.
