Cristian Espinoza left the San Jose Earthquakes after seven seasons and signed a free-agent deal with Nashville SC as the club's third designated player. San Jose re-signed striker Chicho Arango to a designated player contract running through December 2027 with club options through June 2028 and the 2028-29 season. Arango scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 30 games last season and received San Jose's offensive player of the year award.
